Dubailand, Dubai: A great destination to explore
Dubailand can be fittingly called an entertainment, leisure and tourist destination. It is worth a visit during Dubai travel. It was set up under the auspices of HH with a view to attract 15 million tourists to Dubai by the year 2010 along with other entertainment projects. Another factor that was considered was to minimize the city’s dependence on oil revenues and create a sustainable economy by means of higher value added services.
Dubailand is situated at a strategic point that allows easy access from the neighboring Emirates and the airport and must be a part of Dubai tours and packages. It is located on the Emirates King Road and is closely located to the other land marks in Dubai such as the Emirates Towers, the Burj Al Arab etc. It is also only an hour way from the nation’s capital Abu Dhabi. Dubailand has been segregated into six zones to effectively monitor developmental activities and see that there is all round balanced development of the place. These zones will provide different socio economic and cultural mix and a range of projects that will lead to other peripheral uses. All these places are must sees and great Dubai attractions.
The zones are
Attractions and Experience World – This covers 145 million sq.ft and is a world of vibrant characters. It has parks scattered around a superb tower and is a “must see” attraction. There are various themed attractions in this place for the whole family. The place will pulsate both day and night. Projects in Dubailand will include the global village, the theme parks, kids city and giant world.
Retail & Entertainment World – Covering 45 million sq.ft, this place has an energy center and is a superb place for family entertainment and innovative retail concepts in a themed environment. It also has both an outdoor and indoor environment rendering a vibrant mix of retail and entertainment. Some of the projects in this place include the World Trade Park, the Flea market, factory outlets and the Auction World.
Themed Leisure and Vacation World – This place covers 311 million sq.ft and will serve as a magical retreat and will meet the demand for resort hotels and quality vacation village residences. This place provides a creative themed development concept in one part of the desert but close to entertainment and leisure facilities. The place has many amenities such as canals, parks and lakes and formal waterfronts and is located near the Resort’s unique central linear park. The projects in this place include Destination Dubai, Women’s world, Andalusian Resort & Spa and Desert Kingdom.
Eco Tourism World – This place will cover 806 million sq.ft and will be a place devoted to creating a habitat for animals and preserving the desert heritage of Dubai. This area will also try to provide a taste of desert life and help in recreating the Safari experience through camp areas. Projects Include Desert camps, Sand Dune Hotels, Desert safari and Dubai Heritage Vision.
Sports and Outdoor World – This place will cover 206 million sq.ft, would serve as a great place of mild adventure and outdoor sports activities. It will respond to a strong market interest amongst both visitors and local people. Projects include traditional sports such as equestrian, polo and indoor and outdoor venues etc.
Downtown – Covering 5.66 million sq.ft, this place is a gateway to the overall development centered in Dubailand. This arena forms the resort’s administrative and business district. The place has an unique land bridge with water cascades and impressive gateways that will help establish the development identity for the Resort City. The Downtown will have the leisure character and open space required for the overall development of Dubai city through its large scale piazzas and squares, water features and landscaping techniques. Projects in this place will include the largest mall in the world namely the Mall of Arabia. City Walk which will have outside dining and entertainment facilities etc. It will also have street cafes and theaters, wide boulevards, museums, lawns and lush parklands including common gardens.
Dubailand will be a perfect combination of different leisure, sports, entertainment, retail and other tourism attractions which must be visited during Dubai travel. The main concept of Dubailand is really unique in this place. There are a few projects that have been launched that are really spectacular, particularly the Sunny Mountain Ski Resort project which will have the first indoor skiing facility in Dubai city.
